Benalla West
We're delivering new social and affordable housing in Benalla West.
The Benalla West – Stage One project is part of the Victorian Government's Big Housing Build and will provide 48 modern, accessible and energy-efficient homes in a mix of one, 2-, 3- and 4-bedrooms.
Each home will have a low-maintenance private open space which can be adapted to suit the needs of the renters.
As part of the project, Waminda Park will be upgraded to be more inclusive and accessible for people of all ages, including BBQ facilities, lighting, and new play equipment for children.
A draft master plan was developed to help shape the vision for the Benalla West site. Community consultation as part of the master planning process has helped shape the plans for the Benalla West – Stage One Big Housing Build project.

Community consultation
Engagement is embedded in all our housing development projects. Because we know when we involve communities in the planning and design of future homes and neighbourhoods, we’re able to deliver the best possible outcomes for the local community.
In mid-2025, we shared the proposed design plans for Benalla West - Stage One with the community and the feedback we received during the consultation will help to inform the final design plans.
A report on the outcomes of the recent community engagement will be published on Engage Victoria and shared with the community in the coming months.

Early works including demolition (June – October 2025)
Between June and October 2025, we will be carrying out early works, including demolition works, in Ballintine Street and Kelly and Nicholson Courts to prepare the site for the construction of new homes.
