Work ramps up on regional housing projects
Work is underway on more and better homes in regional Victoria.
Through the Big Housing Build and the Regional Housing Fund, we’re investing $2.25 billion to deliver social and affordable housing where it’s needed most across rural and regional Victoria.
This major investment meets the demand from Victoria’s growing population and boosts rental housing to support local jobs and keep skilled workers in regional towns and cities.
So far, we’ve delivered nearly 200 new and upgraded homes have already been completed, with more than a thousand on the way. We’ve also invited communities in Benalla, Bendigo, Wodonga, Ballarat and Colac to provide feedback on the design plans for new housing developments.
That feedback will help us to finalise designs before we move onto planning approval, with the aim to start building in late 2025/26.
