Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street, Ashburton
We've started planning for the redevelopment of the Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street housing sites in Ashburton. We’ll replace the old walk-ups with 91 new homes.
The new homes will be modern, well-designed and energy efficient. The project also includes new communal areas inside and outside the building.
This project is being delivered in partnership between the Commonwealth Government's Housing Australia Future Fund and the Victorian Government.
We’re delivering more and better social housing close to public spaces, transport and services.

Community consultation
We’re inviting relocated residents and the Ashburton community to share comments and ideas. We want to hear what’s important in the design of the Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street redevelopment.
Visit the Engage Victoria webpage to share your thoughts. You can complete an online survey and find details about upcoming face-to-face events. This consultation will run from Monday 20 October and close at 11:59 pm on Sunday 9 November.
Feedback, ideas, and comments from the community are important in shaping the future design of the housing site. We encourage former Alamain Avenue and Ambon Street residents and the wider Ashburton community to participate in each stage of the planning and development process over the coming months.
Relocations
All residents from the old walk-ups at Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street have been supported to move into new homes that suit their ongoing needs.
Relocated households will have the right to return to the new homes based on their ongoing eligibility, needs and suitability of the new homes.
