Help us build a vision for Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street in Ashburton

Posted on: 20/10/2025 - 10:00am

We are building a vision for new social housing in Ashburton – and we want to know what is important to you.

Resident and community ideas and lived experience plays an important role in shaping designs and plans.

We want to find out what is important to you about:

  • Neighbourhood
  • Shared community spaces (outdoors) such as community gardens and sitting areas.
  • Shared community spaces (indoors), such as courtyards, places to meet with neighbours, or places to pause in building foyers.
  • Private spaces such as homes that are energy efficient and meet modern living standards.

Your input will help shape the design of the new homes at the Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street housing sites in Ashburton.

About the project

This project is being delivered in partnership between the Commonwealth Government's Housing Australia Future Fund and the Victorian Government.

The project will deliver 91 new social homes that will be modern, well-designed and energy efficient.

All residents from the old walk-ups at Alamein Avenue and Ambon Street have been supported to move into new homes that suit their ongoing needs.

We expect construction of the new homes to start in late 2026 and to be complete by 2028.

Relocated households will have the right to return to the new homes based on their ongoing eligibility, needs and suitability of the new homes.
