In their new homes, residents will have all the same rights and protections under the Residential Tenancies Act. Their rent will be set the same way it is now, acknowledging they may also be eligible for Commonwealth Rent Assistance. 

When the redevelopment is complete, residents don’t need to move back to their current neighbourhood if they are happy in their new home.  

If suitable, residents can stay in their new home for as long as they wish, just like in their current high-rise home. 

Residents can also come back to the neighbourhood after it is redeveloped if their eligibility and needs are the same and the new homes are suitable for them. 

Before the new homes are ready, we’ll talk with residents about whether they would like to return and what options are available. 

Residents will continue to get Victorian Government support for water and energy costs if they are eligible. 

Residents who move from an older persons high-rise will be supported to connect with the Community Connection Program or the Housing Support for the Aged program.
