Celebrating community through art at Banksia Gardens
We partnered with Artists for Kids Culture (AKC) a not-for-profit, for-purpose organisation, and Banksia Gardens Community Services (BGCS) to invite young people in Broadmeadows to express themselves through art and celebrate the diverse and vibrant community of Broadmeadows.
The mural was co-created by the young artists, who were encouraged to seek inspiration from nature, community and a 'home for all'. It has brought colour, art and meaning to the wooden construction fence. Local resident and Indigenous artist Emma Russell and AKC's artsbus program supported and guided the project.
This community artwork is displayed on the wooden construction fence of the project site at Banksia Gardens, Broadmeadows where we are building 120 new modern, comfortable and energy-efficient homes as part of the Australian Government’s Social Housing Accelerator and the Victorian Government’s Big Housing Build.
You can visit the artwork at the Banksia Gardens construction site on Coleraine Street, Broadmeadows.
