New Street, Brighton
We redeveloped the New Street, Brighton housing site in early 2024. The project to replaced 127 older –style social homes that were no longer fit for purpose, with 291 new homes including 151 social homes and 140 market rental homes. This project has delivered a 19% uplift in social housing at the site.
The completed homes at New Street were delivered through a Ground Lease Model – A partnership approach to housing delivery where Homes Victoria leases the land to not-for-profit project partner Building Communities to finance, design, build, manage and maintain the new homes at the site for a 40-year term. This means the land and homes remain in public ownership.
