Summer can bring dangerous weather like heatwaves, bushfires, storms and power outages. 

Now is a good time to check your service’s Emergency Management Plan to make sure it’s up to date. Being prepared can prevent problems and save lives, so it is important to: 

• Make sure all emergency phone numbers and details are correct 
• Make sure staff know what they need to do in the event of an emergency 
• Ensure residents are aware of emergency procedures and know what to do. 

Providers should also ensure buildings meet safety rules and that there is a clear and detailed plan in place to help residents stay safe during extreme weather.
