SectorConnect - Community connection in Coburg

Social isolation can be a real risk amongst SRS residents, which is why the Supported Residential Services Outreach and Assistance Program (SRS OAP) is so vital. Every year the program provides vital service coordination, social participation, and community connection for residents living in supported residential facilities across Victoria.

Earlier this year in more than 125 residents came together with support workers, SRS OAP staff and community representatives for the annual Black and White-themed event.

Delivered in partnership with Merri-bek City Council, and hosted at Coburg Town Hall, it was an afternoon of good company, good food and fun.

Program funding covered resident transport, event catering, entertainment and prizes, ensuring residents could participate at no cost.

SRS Boutique

Residents dressed up for the occasion, enjoyed meeting people from other Supported Residential Services and browsed the popular 'SRS Boutique’, where donated clothing was available to take home.

Rotary Club supported the event with a $500 donation, which helped purchase costumes and supplies.

Resident feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many saying they enjoyed the festivities, food and conversations with their community.
