Reaching out across Victoria

In July, the Victorian Government announced an expansion of rough sleeping assertive outreach services across 10 new locations including: Brimbank, Shepparton, Hume, Whitehorse, Latrobe, Darebin, Bairnsdale, Maribyrnong, Wodonga and the Mornington Peninsula.

Assertive outreach teams play a vital role in engaging people who may not otherwise be connected to services. The provide practical support, link people with services, and create pathways into stable housing through Housing First and supportive housing programs.

Funding will create a robust statewide network of assertive outreach – using a persistent approach to find and engage with people sleeping rough and support them with stable housing, supports and social connection. A competitive tender process for providers concluded in August. Successful applications will be announced soon, with services to commence before the end of the year.
