What is your happiest memory in your home?

A place to call home
Having somewhere to call your own is important.
The Big Housing Build aims to create homes that give residents that feeling of ownership and belonging.
Here are some experiences of a few of our recently moved in residents:
Jo's story
Jo found a home in Summerhill Village, a co-operative housing model that is specifically designed for women aged 55 and over. Her happiest memory is the moment she walked through the door.
"This is mine. This is me, I belong here."
Abigail’s story
Abigail is a mother of 2 and a member of Larrakeyah Common Equity Rental Housing Co-Operative (CERC). A house to share with her 2 children in Greater Geelong gives them a happy place to call home.
“Getting the keys and seeing my kids’ faces,” she described has her happiest moment in the new home.
Jasmine's story
For Jasmine, finding a stable home had been difficult, including times of homelessness. She and her dog, Penny, are now renters in the new social housing in the suburb of Belmont in Geelong. This home allows Jasmine both safety and a place to express herself.
“My happiest memory is spending the first night here, and knowing that I’m safe, and it’s my home,” Jasmine told us. “I can decorate it how I like.”
We are working hard to ensure that we can deliver more and better homes for Victorians to call their own. A place where residents can feel secure, connected and independent is the beginning of making more happy memories.
