Final 2 tower cranes coming down at Bluff Road
Posted on: 18/07/2025 - 4:04pm

Construction continues to progress on 285 new homes at the Bluff Road housing site, with another key milestone approaching.
Since arriving on site in January, the tower cranes have helped shape the building structures — and now it’s time for them to come down. One of the 3 cranes was removed in early June, and the remaining 2 are scheduled for dismantling between 23 and 25 July 2025.
This milestone signals the next phase of works, with apartment fit-outs set to begin shortly after the building structures are complete. As a result, you may notice different contractors on site in the coming weeks.
The new social, affordable, market rental and specialist disability accommodation homes are being delivered in partnership with Building Communities.
Completion of the homes and upgraded open spaces is expected in late 2026.
What to expect
The tower cranes will be dismantled within the site boundary using a mobile crane within standard working hours. This will have minimal impact on residents.
The tower cranes will be removed from the site in sections on semi-trailers via Wickham Road and/or Widdop Crescent. Traffic management will be in place to direct vehicles and pedestrians as the cranes are transported from site.
