Our construction partner, Lendlease, began their work in June 2026.

Demolition of the 2, aged, towers was completed by the John Holland Group in April 2026.

To keep everyone safe and provide access for trucks and other site machinery, we have removed some carparks in front of the building site and on the south side of the traffic island in Palmerston Street. 

Signage and traffic controllers are also in place. Please observe project signage and the direction of the site’s traffic control team.

The changes to parking and traffic flow have been approved by the City of Melbourne. 

The construction of the 2 new buildings is taking place in a carefully staged process.

Two cranes have been installed at the site to construct the new high-rise apartment buildings. 

The cranes will not be lifting loads over neighbouring properties.  

In line with strict safety guidelines, the cranes will move with the direction of the wind when not in use – a movement known as “weathervaning”.   

Scaffolding and protective mesh fabric will be installed around each building to support the construction works. The mesh will act as an extra protection barrier for dust and noise.  

The new high-rises, including new landscaping, are expected to be completed 2028.

We’ll provide updates to neighbours before significant works take place.

Our team will undertake their work within standard hours as determined by Council. 

With the exceptions of emergencies or other one-off events, construction works in the City of Melbourne are carried out between the hours of: 

• 7 am and 7 pm Monday to Friday
• 8 am and 3 pm on Saturday

Neighbours will receive work notices in their letterboxes ahead of any significant works.

Yes, at times there will be some noise, dust and vibration.  

Our constructors will do their best to limit disruptions.

They will employ measures such as noise and vibration monitoring and dust suppression. They will meet Environment Protection Authority (EPA) regulations. 

Highly experienced  builders, Lendlease, have been engaged to carry out the construction of the new high-rises. 

Lendlease have been operating for over 65 years and have wide experience delivering similar projects across Australia, Asia and the United States.

Safety management plans will be followed at all times, and works will take place inside the construction fence. 

All works will follow WorkSafe Victoria and EPA regulations. 

The new high-rises will stand at 15 and 20 storeys.

They will offer 248 social homes with the following bedroom mix:

1 bed: 128 

2 bed: 73 

3 bed: 28 

4 bed: 11 

5 bed: 5 

Studio: 3 

Enhanced security will also be a feature of the new buildings, including at ground floor entry points and on each individual floor. 

Front doors of the apartments will also include peep holes for the first time.

The architects who have designed the buildings have done so in way that emphasises connection to the wider community. This includes a focus on landscaping and shared communal spaces, both within and outside the new high-rises.
