Information for neighbours

We know your neighbourhood is important to you. The development at Pound Road, Colac, will add much-needed housing stock to the Colac area. It will deliver modern, secure and sustainable homes for the Victorians who need them most.

Footpath closure:

Pound Road service works (13 July until late 2026)

We need to close the footpath in front of the works site on the north side of Pound Road to allow for critical service works.

There is no footpath on the south side of Pound Road. Pedestrians are advised to follow detours while we establish alternative pedestrian options.

We are exploring options for safe pedestrian access along Pound Road and we will advise the community when this is available.

The sewer, stormwater drainage and electrical works will ensure the new homes will be connected to essential services such as power and water.

When to expect us

The Pound Road footpath will be closed from 13 July 2026. We expect the footpath to be re-opened late 2026 when site preparation works are complete.

What to expect

The footpath will be closed to pedestrians in front of the project site on Pound Road. Pedestrians should follow detour signs for safe footpath access to their destination.

Footpath access for pedestrians along Pound Road on each side of the site boundaries will be maintained. This ensures pedestrian access to homes and the Colac Cemetery.

Next steps

We are exploring options for safe pedestrian access along Pound Road and we will advise the community when this is available. Until then pedestrians should follow detour signs for safe footpath access and plan for additional travel time to reach their destination.

Public transport

The bus stop at 108 Pound Road will continue to operate as normal during these works.

Site preparation works (May 2026 to late 2026)

Site preparation works will take place from May 2026 to prepare the site for the construction of 50 new homes.

What will be happening:

  • Installation of permanent fencing along the cemetery boundary.
  • Reinstatement of fencing along the Colac Secondary College boundary.
  • Safe removal of some trees.
  • Site-wide earthworks.
  • Installation of storm water and service infrastructure.
  • Construction of a new internal road to access the new homes.
  • Works on Pound Road, including new on-street parking.

At times there may be:

  • Local traffic changes, including heavy trucks entering and leaving the area
  • Medium-level vibrations
  • High-level noise and dust
  • Heavy machinery operating.

Nearby residents can expect to see contractors in hi-vis and protective clothing operating heavy machinery (such as loaders and excavators) and heavy trucks entering and leaving the area. There will also be some levels of dust, vibration and noise.

To ensure the health and safety of nearby residents, our contractor will undertake measures to reduce impacts from dust and noise as much as possible.

All works will be compliant with WorkSafe Victoria and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Victoria regulations.

If you have any concerns or questions about the works, you can contact the site manager on the number below or you can send us an email.
