We know your neighbourhood is important to you. The development at Pound Road, Colac, will add much-needed housing stock to the Colac area. It will deliver modern, secure and sustainable homes for the Victorians who need them most. 

Pound Road closed for sewer works (7 to 10 July)

We need to temporarily close Pound Road for important sewer works to ensure the development is connected to the town system.  

When to expect us 

Pound Road will be closed day and night from 7am on Tuesday 7 July. Weather permitting, we expect the road to be re-opened by 5pm on Friday 10 July

What to expect 

Pound Road will be closed to through traffic at the intersection of Gravesend Street to the west and Queen Street to the east. Through traffic should follow detour signs.  

Access will be maintained for businesses and residents on Pound Road. 

Pedestrians 

The Pound Road footpath will be closed at the works zone, impacting pedestrian access between Gravesend Street and Queen Street. Please plan your alternative foot travel in advance.  

Public transport 

The bus stop at 108 Pound Road will be closed during these works and the bus routes will follow detours. Passengers can use alternative bus stops at the Colac Library and Learning Centre (Queen Street) or Colac Cemetery (71 Gravesend Street). 

Site preparation works (May 2026 to late 2026)

Site preparation works will take place from May 2026 to prepare the site for the construction of 50 new homes.  

What will be happening:   

  • Installation of permanent fencing along the cemetery boundary.
  • Reinstatement of fencing along the Colac Secondary College boundary.
  • Safe removal of some trees.
  • Site-wide earthworks.
  • Installation of storm water and service infrastructure.
  • Construction of a new internal road to access the new homes. 
  • Works on Pound Road, including new on-street parking.  

At times there may be:   

  • Local traffic changes, including heavy trucks entering and leaving the area
  • Medium-level vibrations
  • High-level noise and dust
  • Heavy machinery operating.  

Nearby residents can expect to see contractors in hi-vis and protective clothing operating heavy machinery (such as loaders and excavators) and heavy trucks entering and leaving the area. There will also be some levels of dust, vibration and noise.   

To ensure the health and safety of nearby residents, our contractor will undertake measures to reduce impacts from dust and noise as much as possible.  

All works will be compliant with WorkSafe Victoria and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Victoria regulations.
