Eligibility

We set the income limits based on the Planning and Environment Act 1987 income ranges.  All income ranges are updated annually on 1 July and measured before tax. 

• Data provided will be securely stored for 60 days during the application process. After this time your data is deleted permanently.
• Application and survey data is subject to the Homes Victoria Data Collection Policy.
• The properties do not qualify for Commonwealth Rent Assistance under current Commonwealth Government policy as the homes are owned by the Victorian Government. 

A household member that owns or has interest in residential or commercial property may be permitted to rent a home under the Homes Victoria Affordable Housing Rental Scheme where exceptional circumstances apply. Exceptional circumstances may include: 

• they are unable to reside in the property or continue to reside in the property (e.g., due to family violence) 
• they are unable to generate any rental income from the property 
• it is ‘unrealisable’, that is, they are unable to sell their equity in the real estate 

Appropriate documentation must be provided to support a claim. For example, if a property cannot be sold this may be a letter from a solicitor or financial institution.  

Any exception must be approved by Homes Victoria.
