Homes Victoria has commenced taking steps towards retiring our older public housing towers.

Homes Victoria will retire and transform 44 older-style towers across Melbourne over the coming years and decades. We will deliver modern, accessible homes, and better community facilities to enrich our communities.

Relocation opportunities

We’re committed to supporting renters every step of the way, minimising disruption and inconvenience and offering relocation opportunities that keep communities together.  

Moving house takes time. Some renters may choose to move straight away while others may need more time to work through the options available. No-one is required to move immediately.  

Brand new social housing homes in Victoria Street, Flemington and Abbotsford Street, North Melbourne will be available in late 2023 and early 2024. These well designed, energy efficient modern and comfortable homes are conveniently located to support ongoing neighbourhood and community connections.
